  2. I will attend, I am very concerned that between El Camino and Alameda on 28th and 27th, we have two schools that create traffic twice a day as well as a Sam Trans Bus line and a fire dept route.

The light at 28th and El Camino is already backed up with traffic, I can't imagine this is going to get any better with high density housing.

  4. Thank you so much, Walter. I want to know what's different from the original proposal. It looks and feels the same to me . . . I will be there on Wed night. Jenna Carson (Garfield St)

  5. Jennifer - Thanks for asking. I put up a new post that compares the 2014 and 2016 proposals. Surprisingly, in 2016 there are 6 more units, 15 fewer public parking spaces and about the same height. See you at the meeting!

  6. I'm concerned about traffic and pedestrian safety. In addition to this, there will also be a new movie theater and bowling alley at the old Sears site and Bay Meadows will connect to the El Camino at 28th Ave. Those are three major traffic sources. We don't have any signals on 28th, but we do have an elementary school.

  7. Walter - I will do my best to make this meeting as well. It took quite some time for the developer to come back with a revised development plan, and from what I can tell, it may be worse than the first iteration. More units, less parking?! He's obviously not listening very well.

In addition to the developer holding this meeting, do we know when the next City Planning / public hearing meeting will be with this development on the agenda? I'm concerned that we do not miss the opportunity to formally voice our concerns to the city planning commission. I'm also concerned that the City of San Mateo is not carefully considering all the development underway, planned and to be planned between Bay Meadows, Hillsdale, new crossings on 25th, 28th, 31st, etc. This building is but one project among dozens but who at the City is overseeing the macro-development plans - do we know and can we get in front of this group?

  8. If you go to http://www.cityofsanmateo.org/index.aspx?nid=3016, it says Tricia Schimpp (tschimpp@cityofsanmateo.org, 650 522-7244) is the city planning liaison. It also says you can subscribe there to updates, but I found it is to all "Planning - What's New in Development" emails. If you call or text our neighborhood number (650 532-3527) and leave a contact email, we will send only neighbor updates on this project. The messages are not public.
